The Europa-Institut is also involved in the training of lawyers ("Rechtsreferendare") in accordance with the German procedure for entry into the legal profession.

As such, the Institute gives students who have completed their "First State Examination" in Germany the opportunity to undertake their administrative ("Verwaltungsstation") and/or elective placement ("Wahlstation") at the Europa-Institut. Trainee lawyers undertaking a placement at the Institute are also welcome to attend the courses taught as part of the Master's program "European and International Law".  

Furthermore, students undertaking their legal training at the Higher Regional Court of Saarbrücken or the Higher Regional Court of Zweibrücken can simultaneously study for the LL.M at the institute, thus saving an invaluable amount of time.
