Prof. Dr. Maria Meng-Papantoni

Associate Professor at Panteion University of Athens

Maria Papantoni is Associate Professor of European Law at the Panteion University of Athens. She studied law at the Law Faculty of the University of Athens and the University of Pantheon-Assas (Paris II), where she was awarded her PhD in 1995.
Professor Meng-Papantoni is teaching European (institutional and material) law, international business law, international investment law as well as Corporate Governance. She is the author of several books and articles on European and Hellenic economic and corporate law. Her work includes the following monographs:

  • L'immixtion dans le droit des sociétés (PhD thesis, 1998)
  • Investment advices and portfolio management (in Greek, 2000)
  • The law of energy. European aspect and Greek implementation (in Greek, 2003)
  • The services of general economic interest.  In the network markets of electronic services, post, energy and public transportation (in Greek, 2013)
  • The internal market according to article 26.2 TFEU - Freedom of goods, persons, services, capital (cowriter with Prof. H. Tagaras), Nomiki Bibliothiki, 2013, (in Greek)

Professor Meng-Papantoni was Visiting Scholar at the Institute of International Economic law at Georgetown Law University (2010) and taught at the Law Faculty of the University of Kunming (province of Yunnan-China). She will also be a Visiting Professor at the Summer School 2015 of the Renmin University-Beijing.

Apart from her academic career Professor Meng-Papantoni is a member of the Athens Bar Association and is legal advisor on issues of structure and corporate governance at the National Bank of Greece. She is a member of numerous professional organizations.
