Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) Spring School 2025

The Spring School on “Values in International Law and EU Law” was successfully concluded in Palermo, Italy, in March 2025. Oganized by the Faculty of Law of LUMSA University in Palermo in collaboration with the Europa-Institut at Saarland University, the program gathered students and scholars from various European institutions to explore fundamental legal principles in international and EU law.
The program was structured in two phases:
Phase 1 (10-14 March 2025, Online): A series of virtual lectures introduced key topics such as the Rule of Law, Democracy in the EU, and Human Rights Protection.
Phase 2 (17-21 March 2025, Palermo): Participants engaged in on-site lectures, workshops, and a final debate on topics like AI and Human Rights, EU Enlargement, and International Law of the Sea.
A highlight was the interactive workshop on EU enlargement, which encouraged participants to critically assess the legal and political challenges of expansion.
The program concluded with a final debate, where participants applied their knowledge to real-world legal dilemmas. This interdisciplinary exchange fostered collaboration among students, researchers, and experts from diverse backgrounds.
The organizing committee extends sincere thanks to all involved institutions, particularly LUMSA University and the University of Örebrö, for their contributions to this enriching academic experience.
