Former Head of the Brussels Liaison Office of the German Chemical Industry Association
("Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V.")
Following his studies in law at Mannheim University and legal training at the Regional Court of Mannheim, Reinhard Quick undertook his doctorate under supervision of Prof. Dr. Helmut Steinberger at Mannheim University. He completed his education with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Michigan. During this time he also undertook internships with the European Commission in Brussels and with the GATT Secretariat in Geneva.
In 1984 Reinhard Quick became an advisor for trade policy at theGerman Chemical Industry Association(VCI) in Frankfurt/Main. In 1987 he moved to Brussels to assume the role of director of the legal department of the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC). From 1993 until the end of 2016 Reinhard Quick has been the manager of the Brussels liaison office of the VCI. In 2009 he got appointed to lead the foreign trade division of the VCI.
From 2008 until 2014, Reinhard Quick was chairman of the BUSINESSEUROPE FTA and WTO Working Groups. He was a member of the TTIP Advisory Group of the European Commission (2013 -2016).
Reinhard Quick was appointed as Honorary Professor for international economic law by Saarland University in 2006. He teaches at the Europa-Institut on the subject of trade and environment. He has published numerous essays on trade policy and European law-related issues.
