Christoph Hermes provides legal advice on environmental law to the Commission and represents the Commission in court cases before the Court of Justice and the General Court of the European Union. In 2013, he was EU Visiting Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley. Prior to this, he worked in the area of WTO law and represented the EU in dispute settlement procedures in front of the World Trade Organization.
Christoph Hermes studied law in Freiburg, Geneva and Cologne. He holds an LL.M. degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He was research assistant at the Walther-Schücking-Institute for International Law in Kiel where he obtained a doctoral degree with a thesis on a Union law topic. He has published on Union and WTO law and gave a course on WTO law at Leuven University.
