Teaching Staff

The lecturers of the Europa-Institut ensure a highly practical approach to the program. In addition to professors teaching at Saarland University, the Europa-Institut hosts guest professors from an array of countries. Included are top EU civil servants from the Commission, Council, Parliament and the Court of Justice, as well as leading personalities from the judiciary, business realm, administration and political sector.

To date, many prominent personalities have lectured at the Institute, including the former German judge at the European Court of Justice and former President of the German Federal Supreme Court, Prof. Dr. Günter Hirsch; the former German Advocate General at the European Court of Justice, Prof. Dr. Siegbert Alber; the former German judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Georg Ress; and the Registrar of the Civil Service Tribunal, Prof. Dr. Waltraud Hakenberg. In addition, lawyers from leading international law firms such as Norton Rose, Baker & McKenzie and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer also teach at the Institute.

Students thereby come into direct contact with the "makers" of Europe and are given the opportunity to establish valuable ties, which in turn might then lead to the attainment of highly sought-after internships or alternatively facilitate access to impressive careers.
